I mean, good question, why have that big background, they could just have that sprite bounding box, and it'd work the same

Yes, thats what im talking about. They're already transparent in-game and in the original sprites ripped directly from the game, so what is the point in adding it?
@Xander Are you talking about the rectangles? Those are just bounding boxes, they show the negative space (as in, the part of the sprite that's transparent in-game).

does anyone know like, why all the sheets have backgrounds behind the sprites? cause those don't exist in the original sprites from the game, so it doesnt make sense at all to add them

My guess is going to be at least 4 months judging by the time frame that Toby Fox set for Undertale (remember the message before bepis?) but considering these days and how anything can get spoiled within hours, give it a couple of weeks to a month or two before they start showing up. Just give it time, last thing you want is to annoy an indie dev who might decide to block any more submissions...

Because apparently people use mspaint for editing sprites, like, okay, but then just use anything else
Otherwise the bounding boxes help in centering sprites how they should appear in-game and everything, it's hard to have animations with varied bounding boxes per frame
