LOL yah forgot about that, mostly said that as a joke because they look almost identical and he did compose music for sword and shield as well as scarlet and violet.
Gacha capsules like those have existed way before Pokémon. Also consider how the series was literally called "Capsule Monsters" in its inception.
I wonder if toby needed permission to put those balls in the game because that's just a pokeball
