Are the walking down sprites for the game board supposed to both be the same? The walking up ones are mirrored respectively but to me the two for walking down look repeated

The Roaring Knight, Titan Spawn, and Shadow Guy all are drawn/look the same way: two colours, white and black. (for titan spawn i am aware there's one with red and black instead but still). what if they're all related

Y'know it'd be funny if the bunny ears were a Simpsons reference, specifically Marge's almost hidden bunny ears from the first season's development.
That bit of trivia was my first thought when seeing them anyways - that and thinking of Jigen upon first seeing the Shadowguys as a whole.
