@Agrera: There's nothing wrong with the way the submissions are now, they're not even that massive (again I need to bring this up, four characters from a single style aren't even as big as sprite sheets for one character in other games) and splitting up the sprite sheets / making Luigi just a palette for Mario for SMB1 and SMB3 would be pointless, and would result in sprite sheets that are too small, which is not my style.

Quality > quantity. Having more sprite sheets is not better than having grouped sprite sheets.

what if we seperated the player sprite sheets into 4 separate ones
edit: except for the link ones, and maybe make the luigi ones for 1 and 3 just palettes on mario's sheet

@Jacc Jorep Nah. The Koopalings need some love too, they finally got into Super Mario Maker 2 after it's been 5 years since the first one was released (besides, it's Random Talking Bush's sheets, he can do what he wants with them)

Edit: How come the Super Acorn got rejected? (just curious)

@Smoke-The-Pyroling: There's around 500 colours for the SMB1 and SMB3 styles apiece, so a "palette" for those would be real difficult to set up.

He wasn't mad. He was saying it has no reason to change it. He ripped it, so he changed it to the one he likes more. Maybe rip it yourself if you want to have a choice on the icon.
