The Japanese and Chinese text are used if you change language to Japanese, Traditional Chinese, or Simplified Chinese. There is no Korean text, however, because of South Korea's cellphone laws. |

These broken paper sprites are used when Mario first encounters a major boss. Paper colors: Red - Morton Yellow - Iggy Blue - Ludwig Purple - Wendy Orange - Larry Green - Lemmy Gray - Roy Purple to orange - Bowser |

The reason why Bowser's Fury's Japanese name is Fury World because in Japan, Bowser isn't always called Bowser. Instead, he is called "King Koopa." The same thing happens on the western Mario cartoons, like the DIC cartoons. |

I ripped the pawns! I also ripped it's background, so that's what "The King's Leap I" means. |
Jul 20, 2022, 3:17 PM | Yawackhary | Sheet: Ryu |
@shadowman44 I wondered about that... The game runs on Mode 1 (4 colors; red, blue, orange and black) and removing the black background affects the sprites. This is how the graphics viewer displays them and there are no shadow sprites (what you normally get from the Spectrum, where a sprite is split into two layers). While working on a sprite rip of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, discovered why. The sprites are based around the collision detection, if they aren't there the block doesn't get draw. It's the game that does this but would require some hacking removing the background with a color that isn't used (doable for Ryu outside of the bonus stage but the others use all 4 colors...). This is an example from Indy: https://pasteboard.co/gYofR1oeZ1p2.png |

@Uturn2r6 It's not just a recolor. There have been some minor changes here and there to make the sprites look better, such as adjusted detail on Guts Man's hardhat for his throwing animation, and general shininess added to his hardhat and feet. It's minor, sure, but it goes a long way towards making this all look like it fits with the Game Boy Mega Man games. |

@amongussus, I have literally no idea. It might take awhile ‘cause there’s this glitch that happens with AssetStudio that messes up sprites. I was using the version that had the glitch when I ripped him, so it’s possible that some things I’ll have to re-rip. I’m planning on doing some king’s leap stuff though. Also, (this is not ideal) you could go to scratch. I put most of my sprites on there for other people. You can go there, but if you could wait that might be better. |

I messed around with it against sprites and backgrounds from the game. I think you need to put it on a top layer that's set to multiply blending mode. You can often find this setting in the list that has others like darken, color burn, lighten, screen, color dodge, soft light, etc. |

@Jefoi Actually, Gon is character from a manga of the same name about a dinosaur meeting different animals and interacting with them. (With zero dialogue no less!) His appearance in Tekken 3 was a special guest appearance, which was likely the reason it took so long for the game to see newer ports and rereleases. |

@LuckyLever This licensed game was just as bad. Has literally nothing to do with the Blues Brothers at all! With environments and enemies that look like they belong to an unrelated game! (What also doesn't help is the sprites of Jake and Elwood looking nothing like their respective actors, Dan Aykroyd and the late John Belushi) Oh and expect an annoying overuse of James Brown's "Yeah!" for most of the sound effects. |

Jul 20, 2022, 6:50 AM | Yawackhary | Game: Chase H.Q. II / Super H.Q. |
@Magic Mike Matei It is suppose to be its own game due to the different vehicles and music but inspired by Chase HQ in terms of gameplay. ITL who made this game also made Super Chase HQ on the Game Boy that itself is based on Chase HQ but with rearranged levels and an upgrade shop (also ironically a better game than this just by having smoother scrolling, this is quite jerky). It's confusing really. There's the original Chase HQ on the arcade and the home computer ports as well as the UK developed Game Boy port (the X68000 port is actually a clone originally called Chaser HQ hence why no branching paths but got the Chase HQ name last minute), then due to some copyright issue there's Taito Chase HQ that is a port of the original for the PC Engine (and the Japanese version of the Game Boy port) but then NES and the Master System/Game Gear versions changed quite a bit including a shop. Ironically Taito Chase HQ was not made by Taito themselves... It gets worse... The Japanese name Super HQ is shared with the Japanese name for Super Chase HQ (Super HQ - Criminal Tracer) that itself is given to the Game Boy game mentioned above. All different games with the SNES one being based on the Super Chase Criminal Termination arcade game. Yet Taito made another Chase HQ 2 for the arcade discounting this game (and again outsourcing to a little known Japanese-UK studio Gamewax)... Special Criminal Investigation didn't really get as many ports with the best being both the PC Engine and the Master System versions outside of the arcade (I think the Saturn port was okay too). Only Ocean added the Chase HQ 2 name for extra sales. You can tell really because you can shoot at the cars and bikes at any time that you can't outside of certain scenarios with the rocket launcher in the other games. |

@Spritebuddy23421 they look like that because they are pretty much stolen assets chopped and ran through some type of conversion, probably GIF some JPG then slapped into a game. I don't know much about it but seems like a bootleg sh-t show of a ''game'' that should not exist. |
Jul 20, 2022, 5:09 AM | Jefoi | Sheet: Godzilla |
This is just Gon from Tekken being ran through a GIF conversion. Does this game have a single original asset?! They really didn't bothered to hide anything, just strait up steal content. I wonder how some of these people getaway with all this while others get sued on daily basis over few pixels that look similar to something else ... This is insanity. |

Chase HQ on the Genesis was alright for what it was. Don't know if this was supposed to be based on the original Chase HQ or the other Chase HQ II: Special Criminal Investigation on the Amiga version. The Super NES version (Super Chase HQ) on the other hand was based on Super Chase: Criminal Termination |
