at first i thought that the re-color for Knuckles had to be done due to palette limitations, until i saw the November 3 prototype
The normal ending is unironically the only sprites of Knux that has the correct green socks in base Sonic 3.

But in reality, both. It depends on where he's loaded. The yellow is because the HUD is loaded, which relies on the rings' brightest yellow. It gets a lot more messy later in Hidden Palace Zone.

Whenever I see those sprites of Knuckles laughing, all can I hear is the Kefka laugh from Final Fantasy VI cause there were old flash animations that used that sound when Knuckles laughed for some reason.

What do you mean, "corrected colors"? The correct colors are on the sheet.
I am making the same sprite sheet with the corrected colors soon. Yes, I am not one of the submitters here, but just care about it.
