I love MS Paint. But I mostly use the app GraphicsGale. :1
MS Paint is pretty great for spriting. Straightforward, not a lot of gimmicks, but solid for what it is.

Per Dolphman. Insulting one of the main programs used for a subject, on a site dedicated to said subject, is not a good way to make friends.
FYI. The majority of custom sprites here, including mine, are all done in MS Paint.
