While it HAS the looks of games like Ye-Air Kung Fu, games like Donkey Kong was only difficult due to levels in rotation, and Pac-Man got faster the further you progressed in the game. So Fix-It Felix Jr. would have (at most) debut around the time just five months before the original Street Fighter if it were a real game.
Mostly the gameplay never speeds up enough, extra lives are given way too frequently, and Ralph's movements are too predictable.
The difficulty was probably the part where they spent the least amount of time to meet the movie's release dates (even though the building rises every two levels, or ducks or mounds of bricks appear), and things like the lives shown are up to 6 (the supposed limit) and when it is greater than that number and Felix loses one it seems as if they were infinite.
Graphically it's quite in line with how it's shown in the movie, but as an arcade game (in the strictest sense of the word) it's a neo-retro game or at least worthy for a Deluxe or Arrangement version from 1988 or 1989.

That version of the game is way too easy and doesn't feel like a real old arcade game.
Well, maybe put them in Q*Bert customs, at least?
Fun fact: There is a complete working replica of this cabinet in a local arcade in Huntsville, and has the complete game inside!
Also I'm not sure if "expanded" is a good descriptor for this sheet. There are actually less sprites here than there are in the promotional arcade version (because the arcade hardware of the time wouldn't be able to handle too much sprite data. I planned all that out, and my version only uses 256 8x8 background tiles and 128 16x16 sprites. Multiple of them are arranged in specific patterns to create larger objects like Ralph or bulldozers.)
Sorry, I won't add that because I want to stick with what was originally available in the game, rather than things brought over from other games via Game Central Station (because that doesn't exist IRL lol)
I did simplify his graphics to better fit the style.
