I have actually played Knuckles' Chaotix on an emulator sometime recently.
It literally took me nine minutes to finish one level.

I think the notion of there being parallax layers isn't an issue for me at this point. XD

Not to mention everything in those scenes is made of separate sprites and parallax layers

I started to do so, but then found inconsistencies in frame counts when running through the same scenes, dependant on the time of day. I can try again.

Have those "cutscenes" that appear before you fight a boss been ripped yet?

Yeah, it's like how people say that DK64 didn't make in good financial returns, when in reality they just don't factor in the cost the expansion pak took to produce. However, both KC and DK64 are decent, fun games.

I don't get the hate behind Chaotix.

It's not a great game (that honor goes to Sonic 3 & Knuckles) but it's not a bad game either; just happened to be on an add-on that's doomed to fail financially.

I like this game. A BAD classic Sonic game would be Labyrinth.

That being said, the special stages are INSANE.

It actually isn't that bad of a game as people say it is. People sorta fail to realize that this game was more focused on multiplayer, but still provided a single player experience. Sonic 2 and 3's multiplayer in the main game usually wasn't fun for the second player as they couldn't keep up with player 1 and have to wait 10 seconds to respawn just to fall behind and respawn again. Chaotix was much more focused on trying to fix this issue. That being said, there's still a few complaints I have, mainly being the obvious tethering mechanic (which makes sense in multiplayer) and the Spindash being nerfed.

Still a fairly decent game, flaws aside. As much as some people trash this game a lot, they also fail to realize that Sega at least made an attempt to appeal to the multiplayer side of video games at the time. Sure, it didn't work out well, but it shouldn't be considered the worst "Sonic" game of all time, because there's still plenty of other games that could easily steal that title.

Wish Sega would re-release/remake this game, It's so unique from the other sonic games, it kinda makes me wish that the 32x was it's own CD based console.

I'm trying to rip the zone cutscene sprites from the game as I write this comment. I'm having a bit of trouble with it so far but I'll see if I can keep posting updates about this.

Where's the defeated eggman sprite? Sorry if I'm just being dumb and can't find it, heh.
