@WasabiKitCat I agree. I think people shouldn't base their love for a game based on it's fanbase. Take the sonic series for example. That fanbase is horrible, filled with OC's and terrible fan fiction, but many people still follow the sonic series because it has good games (sometimes) and the fanbase doesn't define the franchise. As for the Undertale Franchise, I think we should give it a chance like we do for sonic because it is very unique and funny.

@Dolphman I disagree. I think Undertale is pretty unique, and despite being inspired by Earthbound, it's very different from it. It did the meta 4th wall breaking thing really well, which a lot of games try to do and fail. The multiple endings make it feel like choice really does matter, unlike Earthbound. There's a lot of care and detail put into the game that makes it really feel alive to me, and I think it's sad that the horrible fanbase ruined the game for a lot of people, because it's a game that's very special to me and it hurts when people refuse to even give it a chance just because "oh the fandom is bad." I'm not saying you're wrong for not being as interested in it, you're entitled to your own opinion, but saying it wouldn't have gotten those hits if it wasn't for the fanbase isn't really true, and I think it genuinely does deserve the attention.

@Dolphman Can you believe Steam's official description for the Yume Nikki remake thought the game was inspired by UT?

It only has them because of the fanbase. I never saw anything special about it, TBH.
Which is a shame because there's much more interesting PC games out there.
To me, Undertale is nothing more than another Earthbound inspired game, which at the time were showing up everywhere, such as the often ignored Citizens of Earth.
I do give the game props for the good use of SNES samples for it's music, though.
