My theory is that it gets used for a controller that steam classes as a "Regular Controller". you know, one that can't properly be aligned with any particular console from a technical standpoint.
I think it's a unused HUD object or a decoration, it would be really cool if we could play SM on a Saturn controller ngl...

Where are the Yellow and Blue Color backgrounds? Do they use Shaders or something?

@DogToon64 Well, most games interpret the GameCube Controller as a Pro Controller.
Fun fact: Did you know that if you're playing the Nintendo Switch version of Sonic Mania with a GameCube controller, and you view the controls, the game thinks you're using a Switch Pro Controller? It's true, I can confirm it.
So... I got the ERZ icon to show up on the data select... It's... weird. It has the TMZ scrolling background but with a weird orange/green/red palette.
Just FYI, I could not get the Video Filter Preview to appear on PC. Is it only a console thing, or is it just unused?

@AzadcanMation: As I said to a few others earlier, those aren't proper sprites, they're all objects rendered directly through code, and as such there isn't even a proper way to rip those.
And where is the moving and growing circles?
