I was trying to use any of the three mecha koopa sprite sheets, but the normal map doesn't fit fine with the diffuse map, also some frames have cuts on the bottom.
Yeah, they're sprites
In SMM1 you can sometimes see the Skewer sprites are sometimes separated by 1 pixel, too
