Why are there quotation marks. (They're part of the name in the actual game but it's still weird)
I first thought it was because of limitations with the GBA's 3D capabilities, but Monkey Ball Jr. released earlier and had much more impressive usage of 3D with its recreations of levels and mini-game arenas from the og SMB.
Imagine the flippers being actually interactable, allowing you to take heights to upper levels, or... just bump into a lot of bumpers, which would actually bounce you instead of being walls.
