So I've started comparing the sprites of all three M&L games on the 3DS and Im surprised that, while the characters' battle sprites are the same, the overworld sprites are unique for each game. I genuinely thought they would just reuse the assests from Paper Jam in this one.

Where are Wendy's Bowser Minions (Battle) Sprites?

Are the item blocks models or sprites?

Since I know that most of the backgrounds are made in 2D, I was wondering about the item blocks.

@CamTro_Official

The Boomerang Bro and Dry Bones Sprite Sheets that had that had those Jellyfish Girl sheets on by mistake mistakes.

@LTI What mistakes?

Well, looks like those mistakes have gotten fixed.

Still looking forward to see if the blocks and some backgrounds will be uploaded. :)

@LTI Really? They're turning out right for me, maybe they've been fixed

(But let's be honest Jellyfish girl is preferable anyways. They give you stuff!)

Same happened with Beanie, all of them are in "Bowser's Minions (Overworld)".

Hey!

Some of those sheets don't have the enemies as shown in the icons!

Like the Boomerang Bro and Dry Bones sheets, they're just showing some sheet of a Jellyfish Girl!

@FawfultheGreat64

I didn't know the Mother Pirhana's tentacles are models.

Can you show me through a screenshot or a video?

I suspect that some characters have very low-poly models that are only used for dynamic lighting on the sprites. How do I suspect this? Well, on a few instances characters have barely any lighting at all--- so they're pretty much silhouettes. Example- Bowletta when she first rises from the Clown Car. I thought the lighting on that silhouette was ugly and resembled an N64 model. They should've stuck with a silhouette sprite like in the original. Fawful as well, before the spotlight appears before his battle, he looks like a N64 model (and I noticed a dark version of his sprite here, why didn't they just use that it looks better)

Models besides Cackletta Soul and Bowser's Castle I know of are Mom Piranha's tentacles when she's swiping you with them, and Bowletta's face when it's shown up close after Bowser is possessed (that also looks really unpolished for a Nintendo game)

After seeing the M&L style in fangames from the past 15 or so years, I'm happy to hopefully finally say farewell to it. Now the only problems are overuse of SMW and Sonic Advanced/Battle graphics.

Also, also, also, they did not lose any, any, ANY expression. In most cases, they look almost just upscaled and restyled, but kept stylized. People need to stop saying that.

We're going to have to accept it: This is the new style for the foreseeable Mario & Luigi series.

Somewhat opinionated of me, but I feel like the charm was lost in this remake. Many of the sprites look rather generic and less expressive now.

Some people are going to say "But the original was off-model and messy. It's just nostalgia". And I'll agree. Some of the sprites in the original were questionable. But even here, everything just looks eh. Off model or not.

Also, am I the only one who thinks the outline-less sprites just look unfinished? It looks like they got the basic shading done, and said "eh, it looks presentable to Nintendo. We don't need to do much more".

Will the sprites used for Minion Quest be in seperate sprite sheets or no? I mean some of the sprites (such as Elite Trio, Starlow, Roy's overworld sprite used in the mode's intro) aren't present in the main game and in Roy's case, not in his overworld sprite sheet.

Nah, the blocks are basically sprites.

The only models I know of are Cackeletta's Spirit, the exterior of Bowser's Castle, the present during the ending and credits of the game.
