Hello everyone and welcome to what I'm going to call Thanksgiving Eve for those of us in the US! This week brings us over 550 new submissions so let's get right into them. First up, the Mobile section is quite large with a huge chunk of it coming from The Simpsons: Tapped Out and provided by Redtarp. Next, over on the PC, blueberrymuffin brings us a bunch from the Diner Dash series. And for our last large group of submissions, we have BLINXGLITCHES (Dr. RNG) who is responsible for the entirety of the LeapFrog section this week.

Moving onto customs, let's give our thanks to 9008, CancerEdition, CosmicToons, Discarded_Vessel, FierceTheBandit, Greenknight9000, hansungkee, Lazy Gamer, Nick edits, RaguRando, SamButSam, SupaStar1278, The_Eggo55, TheUraniumSkull, and WahooMario for their contributions!

And then, before I go, I do want to quickly mention that Dazz and I are still hard at work on the new version of the site and while we're not quite ready just yet, progress has been steady and we're eager to show you the results of those efforts. No promises just yet but keep your eyes peeled for some potential beta opportunities as we get closer to launch.

On that note though, it's time to get out of here so as always, be sure to check out the tons of great content I didn't mention and have a wonderful weekend!

One thing I can say: I hope the new version has a dark mode. This is one of the few sites I frequent that still seems to not, and it creates some visual whiplash.

Heck, I remember when you had to make your submissions on the site forum, rather than just uploading them directly.

Tags were something we planned on implementing years back but they were pushed aside for more critical improvements. When we remade VGFacts, we came up with a much better tag system than the one we originally planned on and have further improved it for the new sites. The plan is to automate some of the initial tagging, to a degree, by utilizing IGDB to help pre-tag games but the rest will likely wind up being an ongoing community effort.

Some websites allow for user-submitted tags.
I just found it funny that Shy Guy Kingdom had tags of some sort back in pre-historic times (I could find Doki Doki Panic by searching "Mamu," for example) while this one never did.

@RaguRando A long time ago when the site changed to its current form, there were volunteers to make icons for the games and sheets. Originally (as in tSR and not ninsprites or Mc Bacon's Nintendo rips) you had to make a manual template for the icon. This had problems because of the design and if you look at the Wayback Machine, the icons were inconsistent regarding font and it was also a problem for games/sheets that had lengthy names. The icon system got completely changed to make it easier.

I'll imagine that it might be a similar case. Besides machine learning in this case is a bit untrustworthy, like something could be made NSFW by mistake.

Who's going to retroactively add tags to over a million submissions, knowing the first version of the site was launched 19 years ago? Sounds like machine learning would speed up the process tenfold.

@Doc Yes, tags are coming, as is an entirely new way to browse and find content alongside those tags.

Last (substantially different) version of the site I recall, the staff images in the update were actually pixel-art based. The pointing Dazz on the alphabet select was a relic of that for a while.
