well togashi said that when he started writing yuyu, he was thinking in making hiei and kurama boyfriends (at least it's a rumor in supposed one of the shonen jumps interviews, since hiei wasn't planned as a main character at the start it's a very confuse thing) but in the end (probably because of the shonen jumps standards too i suppose) he didn't, he just put them as very close friends instead.
