Fatty Whale uses Background Mode 7 of the SNES, allowing the layer to be scaled and rotated.
Mode 7 is also used for the tracks in Super Mario Kart, plus most of the boss levels in Super Mario World.

@A_Paint_Bucket_Named_Huey Thanks, though I totally understand, doing sprite sheets for this game is maddening. I have the luck (or lack thereof) of having nothing else going at the moment and thus how I got what I did done. I'd like to get all the story cards done but finding names fro them is almost harder than doing character portraits. I was extremely dead set on getting as many assets of this games archived which is what drove me this far. Regardless, thank you for the preliminary work you had done as if you and everyone else hadn't, I'd probably lost my mind.

@Gaia No that is not true, it's for completion percentages 61-71% when you complete the game for the first time. You can go through the entire game no-hit and end at 71% competion, you will still get the "That's the one, officer!" ranking.
