I Absolutely love the sprites in this game. While streets of rage 2 was nice and happy with clean shading and cartoonish sprites, There's some rough, but clever sprite work here. There's alot of realistic additions here, like the use of the color grey for blue shading, the heavily shaded lines for eyes, the dirty oil feeling for the jeans of these characters. If you combine all that with a dark, atmospheric, techno bop of a soundtrack, and some CRT artifacts, there's a nice sense of grittiness that the second game just didn't have.

I feel like it could be a cop out if we simply produce spritesheets via Gsaurus' Pancake tools, but I don't know.
