Honestly this feels more like Aquatic Ruin from Sonic 2.
I'm not sure about Chrome Gadget, but Endless Mine would be more akin to Lava Reef.
When you really think about it, the 2-player zones are like alternate versions of the zones in the base game. For example, Azure Lake is Angel Island, Balloon Park is Carnival Night, Chrome Gadget is Launch Base, Desert Palace is Sandopolis, and Endless Mine is maybe Hydrocity.
I've always believed the mountains in the background were Ice Cap, and this is most likely the place that bridges Carnival Night and Ice Cap, if it weren't to the cannon.
Where are the icons for the 2 players zones?
