if they went back to the sprites and changed something about them like this, i think there's a high chance it wasn't intentional.

@DeliriousPersona: It's hard to say. It could be an oddity, like the stripeless shoes in the spring bounce sprite, or maybe it was to add to the blur effect on his shoes.

oh god why do his shoes have a skin color on them when he's running at full speed

jeez this is so weird, not to mention this issue doesn't exist in Sonic 2 and 3 (& Knuckles) sprites..

I think that the sliding sprite was just for transitioning between ground and spinning.

The sprite that's marked "Game Over?" is actually supposed to be an alternate death sprite for when Sonic dies to fire/lava.

RTB covered the crux of it, but the only thing that needs updating on this sheet is the disclaimer box. I'm not responsible for others' inability to read the sprite category text (while I could make the text larger or use another font, it'd screw with more than a few things in terms of sheet layout so right now I have zero intention to change tracks on that front) or that weird notion of not being able to find the distinctive thing they're looking for, which is an absurd notion on this sheet in particular since there's not that many sprites compared to a lot of later stuff?

But it wasn't like that originally which is exactly why people in the comments were complaining (it was a lot closer to this in appearance), hence my statement earlier.

Yeah, that sheet does look more organized in comparison, not perfect but an improvement.
