never realised just how awful this background looks. its looks like it was scaled up at some point and nobody botherd to fix it
Yeah, pretty much that. Having the background(s) as contiguous pieces removes the dynamic nature of them we see in the games, hence the break-up into parallax strips. The reason that four of them stop halfway across is because that's where their loop-points are.
@Rimbabwe The red lines separate the parallax layers.
How are you supposed to use it with red lines over the sheet?

@BlueBlur64 | The animation for the water is a palette cycle. The Observer made it purple for recoloring.
Why is the water purple-
For some reason or another, the loop point for the sky sections starts before where the 16th block should be - so instead of looping after 4096 pixels, it loops after 3840.
