The Sonic game without Sonic in it
I find it ironic that even though this game is a reskin of Puyo Puyo, this game has some amazing sprite work!
I love how this game probably has the greatest sprite work for a 16-bit Sonic game, and it's just Puyo-Puyo with AoSTH Robotnik.
@teh_supar_hackr The very first episode. (Sonic Search and Smash Squad) All the robot goons appear in the scenes where Robotnilk sics them after Sonic and he goes full Busg Bunny on defeating them. After they all fail, Robotnik decides to create new elite henchmen, leading to the origin of Scratch and Grounder.
I've been wondering which specific moment of the show this game was based on (ignoring the fact it was originally a Puyo Puyo game)
Did anyone know this fact before: this game is entirely based off Super Special Sonic Search & Smash Squad episode ?

Luckily, thanks to the Tetris crossover. It's been getting the recognition it deserves.

@MF Same reason Nintendo tried to re-skin it as a Kirby game. They thought it couldn't sell in its original state (and given it was the early 90s, they may have been right).
@mugenfighter: My guess is extra sales. Sega did attempt a couple of times to localize Puyo Puyo into English (as itself for the arcade and Puzzlow Kids for the Game Gear) but there was no interest and probably Sega of America liked the game but didn't want the theme (cutesy) and some US standard complications in regards to a few of the characters. The final boss was Satan after all and that would have got complaints in the US.
Does anyone know why Sega decided to re-skin Puyo Puyo as a Sonic game?
My favorite character in this game was arle and her partner, carbuncle!
