Well, the page was made when the most differences could be sourced from the 510 Prototype. And since the prototypes seem to apply only to the Sega CD version of the game, mayhaps omit SEGA CD from the page name.
Technically speaking, shouldn't this be Sonic CD (Sega CD Prototypes)? Because there's more than one here.

To answer the most obvious question: with the content from the 510 Prototype, at the very least, being different to the final product in so many places, it became obvious that it was more beneficial to create a new page so as to better organise the ultimately-unused stages and backgrounds instead of lumping them together in the main page's Unused section.
