Yeah it's either melting or being filed away.
I always interpreted it as his machine overheating and melting.
I never understood what the red STUFF under Robotnik is supposed to be. He looks so panicked when the machine lowers that it kinda looks like blood
@anthings It's because when he's in the 'mobile, he's got this sports-bike posture. He doesn't need that standing up.
always found it odd how this boss has eggman with his normal sprite, but the rest of them (not including ones where he faces foward) have the new sprite
Final Zone Bad Future
I'm sending a fix for this sheet, there's a weird bug where some of the colors in the beta palette aren't raw.

Because of the little thing he's standing in, it reminds me of that boss from Sonic 1 in Final Zone, he even exits in a similar way as to Sonic 1
I think that the Japanese version's boss music fits this boss the best, considering how Sonic is basically beating Eggman via exercising on a treadmill.
