Yep. Many pinball machines have a dot matrix display, some of them have little animations, short cutscenes or even mini games. Since those are done electronically and have ROMs, they can be emulated even without the actual physical pinball machine. I did expect something else to be the first pinball rip (e.g. The Addams Family, Terminator 2, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Harley Davidson, Tales of the Arabian Nights due to appearing in The Pinball Arcade) though...
I think some of them now even have video screens like the Jersey Jack ones.
