i know this is over a year old, but this still drives me insane, so, it's probably not genuine in the slightest. there might be some that are genuinely enamored, but for most, it is no doubt an ironic excitement

I'd add on to that statement of yours, but, considering your comment's over a year old and I don't want to be that mean over what's ultimately just another sprite sheet, I'll refrain from doing so.

The fact people were actually fascinated by this says a lot about how truly bored people are these days, and how some people have nothing better to do but get excited over the dumbest things.
If it were like Leaky from Banjo-Kazooie where it has eyes and an actual personality to portray, or like the Companion Cube from Portal where you'd eventually become endeared to it, I'd understand.
