If I remember correctly, mcpig sprited these on stream to prank sertif, but dont take my word for it! I mightve misremembered!
These blocks are actually a mach 3 block. I believe it changes for the character you are using, since The Noise and The Vigilante were playable at some point in development.
@MrMantino they were used as a replacement for solid object sprite and will be one of the four sprites at random (not sure if it was picked at the start of the game or a level) but they got removed and replaced with the purple block
