ohhhh shit i think i get it. they're used on those stages because it has to stick with the palette on-screen, right? never noticed that
@dat Those are all the palettes in the game, four at a time of which he flashes between while invincible in different areas.

@Akira: Nope, the only games in the "classic" series (NES/SNES) that had separate sprites for Luigi were Super Mario Bros. 2 (USA) and the All-Stars versions of the games (and its version of Super Mario World, not the original).
Didn't Luigi have slightly different sprites
