it's impossible they planned MM1 to be an arcade game because it was Capcom's "bridge" to get into the home console market

Daaamn!! Now these are some professionally made sprites! I had to download this hack myself to count if they were actually 3 colors! This is outstanding!

@SiFi270 Now that I think about it, maybe? Probably not a true story, but when I think about it, I realize I actually never knew.

It was just something I'd read a long time ago, and I don't even remember where. I think whoever had written it was trying to explain why the first game bothered with giving you points and dropping items that only affected those points.

It's also possible that MarioMadness734's comment was directed at the hypothetical rambling part of my comment. But I wasn't trying to mislead anyone with that, it was just a pointless hypothetical ramble.

Yeah, I doubt it was ever considered an arcade game (though you can get 2 and 3 on the Playchoice-10, which is an arcade machine)

@SiFi270 No. That story is not true.

I hear MM1 was originally planned to be an arcade game. Maybe in the timeline where that happened, this is a hack of its NES port meant to make it look like its arcade counterpart. Something similar was done for the NES version of Ghosts 'n' Goblins.
