Luckily, there's the Game Boy version.
Plus there was the trio of ghosts that act as a boss who also have a Manji symbol on their foreheads. Which unfortunately made them look like the KKK since they have connections with Neo Nazis. (Doesn't help that it would get mistaken for a Nazi Swastika, which has pretty much forever tainted the true meaning and symbol of the Manji)
Well, in 1990, Nintendo still only allowed a company to release 5 games a year, which is why Ultra Games was created. They met the quota for both labels. After that, probably lack of interest since it was a parody game like Parodius which also didn't see a US release.
