@Dolphman well, did you make up the name, or did you see it in some official media? To be honest, it could go either way, but tomatoes are used in McDonalds burgers while pumpkins aren't, although in this particular game that's not strong proof of anything; most McDonalds burgers don't have green imps or mechanical fish skeletons in them, either. However, he does lack the ridges that real and cartoon pumpkins often have, so my first instinct when I see him is "oh, a tomato".
@Murnjendoof. I'm not sure TBH. His colour is similar to a common pumpkin and he has a thick stem that you see on top of one.

I always thought the pumpkin boss was a tomato. Does the manual identify him as such, or something?
