@Dolphman As I stated in my previous message, the prototype they claim the sprite is from uses a completely different tileset, as can be seen here. From all that I can see it is a hoax, especially as literally no other (and none of the more reputable) source mentions it.
Never mind, I checked one of the other prototypes and that enemy does indeed exist. Just that the prototype is marked wrong under the gif

@JDFRG They obviously forgot because it was found by Hidden Palace when they showcased the May 17 proto back in 2019. As seen here
Pretty sure the laser crab one is a custom. After some research, all I could find about it was a gif, that said it was from the 17 May 1993 prototype, but that prototype uses a completely different tileset to the one in the gif. Also neither The Cutting Room Floor nor Sonic Retro mention that enemy or show its sprites as unused anywhere (including the main game pages, prototype pages and different console version pages)
Is that unused guy literally just the scorpion guy from Sonic CD?
