I find it funny that prerelease screenshots (or mockups) called it "Get Blue Spheres"
They're both grey, that would be unspecific. Maybe "dark" spheres?

Yep. The special stages act as regular bonus stages in this game. Not one emerald in sight.
So did the game lack Chaos Emeralds too?
Funny how "black" happens to be almost exactly halfway between actual #000000 black and #FFFFFF white. Couldn't they do anything right?
