A lot of the characters look like their modern version because the Japanese versions of the characters are in all versions, even the US one.
I didn't know there was a Game Boy Tamagotchi game! This is awesome!

All jokes aside I love this port so much and while I'm a huge fan of the originals, I consider GB the definitive tamagotchi experience as long as you can ignore the lack of a real-time clock system.
