@Dolphman The plot always struck me as incredibly random. That they spent so much time on curling in the opening, then just kinda wandered around and eventually ended up on an island... where they continued wandering around.
@Doc von Scheltwick And the plot for The Wild is stupid. Evil cult of wildebeest wanting to eat lions? That's the best you can do? XD
Also, movie gets more negative points for having a BRITISH actor voicing a koala, which is an AUSTRALIAN animal. Our accents are not the same!

@Billy Actually, it's come to light that Madagascar was a quick-n-dirty ripoff of The Wild that was pushed to release faster.
It just was more successful for a number of reasons. Not being ultra-uncanny valley certainly helped, as did the more organic plot progression.

Disney ripped off Madagascar and it turned out terrible.
I guess it's because of DreamWorks ripping off both A Bug's Life and Finding Nemo.
