This isn't an actual Sonic thing, it's a fusion of Metal and Mecha Sonic for Super Mario Bros DX

This goes so hard! This really dives into the SMBZ vibes, and I adore it!
Lore accurate Metallix
Mecha Sonic if he looked more like Metal Sonic nice. Also I noticed that this utilises the SMBZ moveset so these sprites could be seen as a more lore accurate adaptation of SMBZ Mecha because he is an evolution of Metal in SMBZ.
Basically, this is a fan design as in that series, this is a fusion of Metal and Mecha Sonic, hence why the design is not found in anything official
