Wow these are amazing!
These are really nice! Though, one criticism I have is that the mouth looks a little repetitive. I feel like some frames should have different mouth poses or no mouth at all. Especially the skid sprites, and good/bad ending sprites.

Really great sprites here! My favorite part is that it uses exactly the same palette as the original Sonic 1 sprites, but the shading is way more detailed, especially on the shoes. I hope to see these modded into the actual game someday.
