125scratch: Yeah, It's an prequel, even if is called SMW2 is still a prequel.

If anything it's a prequel to the entire Mario series.
I knew that, but the "Western addition" name changed it all for me.
It was named "Super Mario World 2" as a Western addition. The original Japanese (ie, the creator's intent) was just Super Mario: Yoshi Island, so no, it's not a sequel.

Minus Galaxy is a collaborative ROM hack of Super Mario World made between Mario Fan Games Galaxy and Minus World. It's a pretty great hack.
