@Omega Indeed. Jazz Jackrabbit had surprisingly smooth animations especially in the sequel. Though the bite attack is simpler here as it wouldn't translate well in Sonic's art style. (Unless it's AOSTH which did have Tex Avery-esque expressions and wild takes)
