I think it's rather nice that Sega games like this are getting their own custom sprite categories for a change. Keep up the good work!
If I have one point of criticism here, it's that Alex's hands are way too small.
At this resolution, it's nearly impossible to tell which "janken" throw he's using, making his hands roughly the same size as his head (16x16) would greatly alleviate this issue.
