I was trying to tell you that Disney are not doing well since they switched to live action films thats been Disney's main focus during the late 2010s and the 2020s. While greed can be considered a issue among big famous companies, it can be a different story if you think about the current status of a company and how stable a company is based on their decisions and directions they make for the filming and gaming markets. As for Disney's case with Afternoon shows like this one where the game was based but not from the original comics, it wasn't greed that killed Disney's Marsupilami cartoon but rather bad decision making and wrong choices they made. Around that time, Disney got sued by the Belgian comic company when they claimed Disney broke a promise after they finished 13 episodes. However, the Disney wiki page about this case doesn't seem clear why but I think Disney made their version without permission and why would the animators go through the trouble with making those episodes in the first place when they should know better right? Thats why this show never got a dvd re-release. vhs tapes was sold before long time ago during its airing and even this game was localized in America! Possibly the Disney version of Marsupilami brought enough awareness to bring this game to American English even if popularity fell short at the time after the show's first and only season. Its one of a very few Genesis games based on a French comic to have a U.S. release! Not many games from Europe are this lucky with Tin Tin that used to air on Nick channel during the early 90s with Doug, Rocko, Rugrats, Ren Stimpy, and Real Monsters era, Smurfs that aired very often on CN and Boomerang during mornings and afternoons, and Spirou Im not even sure if we got any comics or tv shows from this into America as I only first discovered the Genesis game. None of those Genesis games based on those other French series ever made it to U.S. because the lack of recognition with the French characters and lack of American adaptions. Asterisk, another French comic, has a few animated films imported to the U.S. with the British dubs that made it close enough to watch in English, along with this one, Marsupilami, are the only Genesis games based on French comics released in America and I think its a real blessing for those who grow up with the Disney version who didn't see the original yet that helped bring more awareness of Marsupilami's existence in the U.S.! The real issue with the show cancelled is more like stupidity and being too desperate for adding more shows on their Disney Afternoon block at the time when there wasn't much new shows to see beside reruns of current shows such as Bonkers, Goof Troop, and Duck Tales and re-airing older shows from the 80s such as Gummi Bears and Wuzzles, its clearly no wonder we later got Gargoyles and Mighty Ducks after all those previous shows ended and the latter two are just bad because they are too dark and serious for a channel aimed for younger viewers at the time! lmao. Its also no wonder why Toon Disney couldn't live up anymore when it eventually got replaced by Disney XD that ran much longer than their former channel did but their shows were not that interesting anymore except Lilo and Stitch, House of Mouse, and sometimes reruns of older shows but we wouldn't see those later until demand for Afternoon shows increased in 2010s but still no Marsupilami because of the previously mentioned lawsuit from the Belgian company after the show was cancelled and thats what really pissed me off about it. Disney could simply reach out and ask if its ok to adapt their series if they haven't back then unless they already tried asking and the original writer before they started airing the show and they might have just went ahead to make it anyway when Disney thought they had no choice? This is also why Disney is not doing adaptions from comics or other shows anymore to avoid silly lawsuits and thats why Wreck it Ralph and Big Hero 6 happened because both films were based on a comic from another company who joined Disney (see what you should have done there, Belgian Franco company? lol) or video game companies agreed to have their game characters featured on the film (another way that the Belgian Franco company could have done with Disney by simply making a deal and agree to the other party who really wanted to adapt their comics with their own animated series). So you see, and it all comes down to this, the main issue with Disney's Marsupilami being cancelled wasn't only about greed but also poor planning and acting aggressive with competing other channels around the early 90s cartoon boom at the time. I even like some of the game's ideas, maybe if I knew how to edit games. Sayori is a close second as her bubbly nature is like the friend next door you just want to cuddle and keep safe. Yuri is the girl your meant to avoid but stick with as she has a side others dont see and natsuki is the girl you find annoying but keep around as everygroup has to have a grumpy one. |
