That's not entirely true.
You see, back then 3D model rendering took a very long time, and it probably took long until they noticed the error in the model's eye positions.

Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius		 You know, it just occurred to me. There's a long gap between now and when the Cloud and Sephiroth sprites were uploaded, with no other additions to the FF7 group. It's almost like those two are the only characters people like to talk about from that game.

Looks like at one point, Lilac's Original life icon was updated to her final design before being changed into the final life icon style, I don't know which beta that sprite resides in. But it would be nice if we could get it.
