I have access to every single sprite, what do we need uploaded? |
Oct 5, 2018, 3:48 PM | Resistiv | Sheet: Dinosaur |
@GuyWhoSleeps Not that I can see, you can obtain the sprites by inspecting the page and using the "Network" tab, and there are only around five images that get loaded: the icon, the original and birthday sheets, and the scaled up version of said sheets. I can't quite figure out a way to find the images stored locally on my computer, but I'll keep searching! :] Update: Upon further inspection, decompiled sources from Chromium documentation prove that there are no hidden/unused sprites or images, sorry... |

Naw, in most cases they just pay careful attention to the palette and animation style. One can fairly easily make DKC-style sprites from DKL ones. |

I wonder how people make modified versions of the DKC sprites which are pre rendered models. Do they make their own version of the models? |

@Sanic: Those are identical to the ones used on the menu, and therefore are all on that sheet instead. |

@Sanic It appears to be part of Flying Battery; perhaps a thicker axle for the rotors or some sort of barrier or "tunnel." If you're talking about the big orange/tan thing, anyways. |

I like how most of the "unused" sprites are the original sprites of objects from older games that are used in Mania (most likely placeholders), though some there raise a few questions: why is it the Past time post and not the Future one? what's that big cylinder square thing, why are the timed platforms from WFZ here? |

Playing through this again on the Wii U VC, and I notice that the Toads in Rose Town all have their eyes shut after being hit by Bowyer's arrows. |

Eh, it's just that the "Metroid" text in the NES version doesn't use the same style as the Japanese text. They later used "Metroid" in English to preserve the spritework in all versions. Though some might've been developed by a US team first, like Fusion was, and the Japanese devs got lazy. |

I never thought that Metroid in japanese would look so weird. |

In the actual game, you see some smoothing. This is not present here, as it's the game doing that. It also gets disabled in-game when a image appears in a text box, which kinda is weird. |

@Trusta Original sprites gave them differently-colored jaws, so no, as seen on this arcade flyer: https://www.mariowiki.com/images/9/99/VSWreckingCrewScreensFlyerJP.png |

Oct 3, 2018, 7:36 PM | Doc von Schmeltwick | Sheet: Knuckles the Echidna (S3K) |
Related is why locking S&K onto StH1 didn't add Knuckles to StH1, as there were only two shades of red for the palettes, and far too many things shared Sonic's palette to work. Of course, ROMhacks would add him in just using two shades. |
Oct 3, 2018, 1:38 PM | Dolphman | Sheet: Knuckles the Echidna (S3K) |
@Larry's Here. It's because of limitations, otherwise, the lightest shade on rings would be green. He uses the second palette slot, which often reserved for Badniks and bosses. |
