| Sep 22, 2022 2:09 AM | Yawackhary | Update: Dazz Returns: Who Saw That Coming? | Nice to see an update from you Dazz, really thankful that not only that you're still here but also for everything. Hope that you're okay. Oh.. I remember the days when you use to use lyrics in your updates. Yeah, this site has come a LOOOONG way. So many milestones from starting with more or less just Nintendo stuff to having it by series/big game company to how it is now. When tSR was having more than just one staff member doing the updates and the "new" site away from Pixeltendo was the game changer that it needed. Getting anything from 200 to nearly a 1000 rips a week is incredible, some weeks you get pleasant surprises that can make you smile. On a personal note, think if the site hadn't expanded outside of the popular consoles we would have missed out on many submitters and so many rips. Would have retired much sooner if it wasn't for that and for all rippers out there, better tools to make ripping easier. To think when we started, capturing was the main source of rips using the likes of ZSNES, Gens, VBA and whatever NES emulator people used. Ripping Gamecube stuff back then was like a pipe dream... Especially now being here so long that feel (literally do feel) like an old man. Being here such a long time that there's not many left from the olden days and saw so many people come and go. Despite that there are still people coming here, some new regulars. Really am touched for the shoutouts not just this update but for any update that get mentioned, it keeps me going just a little bit longer even some of the time don't deserve them as there are far better rippers, far more content in their rips (fighting game rips/anything with lots of sprites or the super detailed rips always impress me) and know the stuff that I rip just isn't popular yet doing the rips not out of popularity. Sprite ripping is one of the few things that can do half decently and felt like it needed to be shown regardless of system/quality of the game. It's a bit strange ripping wondering how long you have left... When it's getting harder to look at pixels clearly, when you have to really zoom in to rip, hard to focus even with glasses... Funny how wax poetical is mentioned because I just had a thought of TSGK. How at one point was one of the biggest ripping sites is now forgotten, along with most of the Captain N fanbase. Goemar's RetroGameZone is still there but no more updates and how long until Goemar has had enough of hosting. Sprite Database is still around and glad that it has because as much as there's convenience having everything in one place, also like the idea of alternatives. So for tSR to be still around especially now is grateful and I hope that it'll last as long as it can. (It took nearly a week for me to think of the words so sorry if it's messy). |

| Sep 21, 2022 3:02 PM | RavenclawNimbus | Game: Cuphead: Don't Deal With the Devil! | @sayo-nara: I'm not quite sure I understand what you're saying. Do you mean to say that the frames just bounce around? It's probably 'cause they're just putting the sprite in the middle of the picture. You'd have to manually place each sprite to match placement of the other sprites. Look at the crackshot icon for example. I made a blank image and placed the first sprite in the middle, and moved the rest accordingly. |

| Sep 21, 2022 12:12 PM | sayo-nara | Game: Cuphead: Don't Deal With the Devil! | I have a Question, why these Sprites Composite GIF, the size and position of each picture, always can not be combined with the motion. |
| Sep 21, 2022 6:43 AM | Silverlight | Asset: Various Sprites | Probably another reason it sold well in Japan was that people were using it to play video CDs. That was a huge thing over there back then. But lack of direction and uncertainty of where to go was definitely the problem. Even Nintendo wasn't sure in the change from 2D to the 3D frontier. The fact that they lost Core Design in this mess is still one of the biggest facepalms. If the Tomb Raider sequels had been exclusive to the Saturn then that alone would've saved the console (IMO). But whether TR1 was successful because of the Saturn or the Playstation is still up for debate. It was certainly helpful that the PS1 was $100 cheaper i do know that. But the bottom line is that TR2 wasn't on the Saturn because the Saturn didn't make it to TR2. By 98 you could get a Saturn and a box of a few games for $30 easy. People forget that one of the main reasons why the Genesis was so successful was that it was the go to console for sports games at the time. SNES had none that i can think of. The Saturn had a few but was loosing them in droves to the PS1. Genesis' merits were mainly that it had sports and Sonic. Saturn had neither. The plain truth is that working class Americans weren't keen on dropping $300 on a console that had neither of those merits. SOA got to a point that they were just ridiculously out of touch with their customers. Having no Sonic The Hedgehog 4 (thanks to the infighting at Sonic Team) to direct the entire company's focus onto, and thus, no focus put onto the console it was going to be on played no small part in the fate of the US Saturn. |
| Sep 21, 2022 6:32 AM | smedis2 | Asset: Fighters | So... does Raoh have unused sprite frames for his anime-canon death pose??? It seems like in the actual game he just keels over like everyone else. |
| Sep 21, 2022 5:59 AM | Superjustinbros | Asset: Hidden or Unknown | Ingame, Hell Knight has three frames for his walk animation, but in the raw graphics it's only two per rotation. You flip one of the sprites in the first row horizontally to get the desired third frame. |
