| Nov 25, 2022 2:47 PM | MarioFanGamer | Asset: Countdown Platform | Just as an aside, I looked into the ROM with Golden Egg and it turns out there are more colours out there which are valid for the platforms, though they tend to use the same shade as 6-7. That being said, there is one palette with a unique shading which could have been added to the sheet, though I don't know if they're used in the game or not. Either way, the colours are now fixed (and apparently, 3 is used in 4-3) with the palettes as a proof. |

Thanks for pointing those out. I did at one point consider adding the portrait of the four old men as a bonus, but I felt at the time that would fit better as a future revision on the already existing ending spritesheet. There's a possibility I may change my mind and add them, though, but I'm not completely certain about that yet. |

Unless LEGO decides to bring this game back as a special throwback. |

| Nov 24, 2022 7:42 PM | greennick78sh | Asset: Beck | @Platinum_Acer they look like normal maps to me, which I find weird because normal maps are usually used for texture mapping on 3d models, they store info on the surface normals of an object which allows a 2d texture to appear 3d. Basically if I made a model of a character under a blanket and I was trying to add realism then I would hand model the bigger wrinkles in the blanket in the modeling software but use the normal map for the smaller wrinkles since its a pain to model the really tiny little details in a model, especially when the polygons have to be at least so big, it gives depth to tiny details without having it look weird due to the shortcomings of polygons when it comes to curves while also having a physical detail instead of it being a flat texture. But with that said I don't get why they would be used in this scenario as this game has no lighting effects or shaders if I'm correct, you would only need those for a sprite if you were using a 3d lighting engine or a shader on them to give the engine some sort of indication of the actual depth of the sprite, which this game doesn't use. |
