Hmm really? I may have to recolor them then. A lot of files are stored with the wrong palettes applied. |

Jul 27, 2020, 3:42 AM | Proking235 | Sheet: Dark Bowser |
@GuyWhoSleeps the reason you saw that his head legs and mouth were separate images is because Dark Bowser and every other character in this game are models. They are a bunch of 2D planes stacked together with the pieces that make up the sprite textured onto them. Dark Bowser, along with 80% of the other sheets on here come straight from MFGG, which has pretty much no vetting when it comes to uploading sprites. The sprites you see here were ripped by taking screenshots of an emulator, and sadly or Dark Bowser, that emulator was running in real time, so he is missing an astronimical amount for frame/entire animations. |

this is very interesting, as neither the caged goombas nor the cage itself are their final in-game palettes. are these unused palettes in the files? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aMZ9PrbxjKY (14:38) that is what the cage and goombas are supposed to look like. |

How are people not understanding this? The Space World prototype and anything else that may be included in this leak that's already on the site have been on the site for years. Even if that same data is included in this particular leak, the fact that the content here significantly predates this leak means that obviously, the assets we already have did not come from it. I'm not sure why so many of you are harping on that point though because all it's going to accomplish is the removal of the existing Space World prototype page (and anything else that overlaps) instead of, what I'm assuming is your actual goal, the approval of additional content from this leak. There are literally no double-standards here. We said, very clearly, that no submissions from the Gigaleak would be accepted and as it stands right now, none have been. |

Jul 26, 2020, 9:24 PM | Omega | Update: Sheets and Leaks |
To clarify most of the "bad" custom sprites that are here are because they're really old and sort of hold some nostalgic and historical value of what content the site was getting back in the 00s |

@eve I never claimed to be a pixel artist or animator nor did I say I made my own avatar so I'm not sure I see your point? Since you seem to have a tenuous grasp on reality at best though, I feel it's prudent to point something out to you that you may have overlooked. We're not just a pixel art site. We have a Custom / Edited section (which, contrary to your assumption that we mix custom sprites in with official ones, separates out the custom work from the rips) for pixel artists to submit their work but the primary purpose of the site is to archive and preserve assets ripped directly from games so again, I don't see your point. And there's one other thing I don't see - why is it people like you who seem to have nothing but disdain for the site even bother to post? If you hate it here so much, if you think it's all crap and not worth your time to even submit to, why on Earth are you here spewing your toxic garbage? Run off to your Pixeljoint or Pixelation or any other "actually good" pixelart site so you don't need to subject your poor, innocent eyeballs to the atrocities committed here. @Murphmario Yes, we certainly don't claim that everything on the site is perfect. Standards were much more relaxed and have steadily and significantly improved over the years but given how long some of the "bad" sheets have been around, we don't delete them until a better rip takes their places. |
Jul 26, 2020, 8:48 PM | HammerBro101 | Sheet: Mario Kart Items (Super Mario Kart-Style) |
If I add any additional items to Super Mario Kart, I would add the following items: Blue Spiny Shell, Bob-omb, Golden Mushroom, Bullet Bill, Blooper, Mega Mushroom, POW Block, Fire Flower, Banana Bunch, Triple Green Shell, Triple Red Shell, Triple Mushroom, and Piranha Plant. I might also use the Fake Item Box, but I would make it so that it can block incoming items, just like it did in Mario Kart 64. |

Jul 26, 2020, 8:40 PM | TailsSena | Sheet: Paper Mario |
Ah so the game merges down the parts at runtime and applies a Stroke, probably via a shader. That this is done for *every single instance* of a paper character in battle including enemies AND copies, it suddenly makes sense that sometimes Citra just...struggles with this game despite not taxing my computer any more than normal. Though that this never happens on the overworld suggests that the game just uses static sprite frames like Mario and Luigi on the map, making it perform far more evenly. Makes sense, since I never see Paper Mario do any tweening on the map. |
Jul 26, 2020, 8:39 PM | Murphmario | Update: Sheets and Leaks |
A lot of the badly-ripped official sprites were done WAY back when, and probably wouldn't be accepted now. Not to mention that badly-ripped sprites are better than no sprites ripped at all IMO. |

@Pingus! You think you're uptight? That's the exact opposite of my entire point. lol @Random Are you effing blind? Look at all the custom crap you allow and mix with the official but badly ripped sprites. And just because you have consistent standards doesn't mean they're high standards. @Pet Maybe because I only contribute on sites that aren't absolutely crap (like this one)? Never heard of Pixeljoint or Pixelation or any other actually good pixelart sites? >that one comment below is literally your only contribution to the entire network since you joined over six years ago so excuse me if I have trouble taking anything you say about our quality control, the people who use the site and its resources, or the staff's abilities even slightly seriously. 100% chance you're neither a pixelartist+animator AND didn't make your own avatar. And no, re-skinning already existing sprites doesn't make you a pixelartist. lol |

This may be if not THE most controversial event on this site, alongside with the Black Lives Matter post. I don't know which side to take. But it's super hard not to get over with the leaks that Nintendo doesn't want to allow. Suffice to say, it's such a shame there's no news aboout any unreleased Kaneko game prototype or test location leaks. I'm not begging them to get a rom file online, but MAN it's so hard not to get over it. Pretty much the Holy Grail of their unreleased games has to be the Tatsujin and Same! Same! Same! for the Sharp X68000. There's evidence showing that of a hishouzame announcement advertisement for Twin Cobra, Truxton, and Fire Shark ports for X68000. |

@eve: I take it you've never run a website before. To say that we have "awful quality control for years" implies that we just blindly accept anything thrown at us. Do you know how many submissions we go through on a regular basis? I'm going to fill you in on something -- there have been over 7,500 submissions that we've rejected since we started the site, just on tSR alone. SEVEN. THOUSAND. I've personally been working with this site since before 2008, and the staff know what's acceptable and what's not. We've had tons of submissions that were not even close to being acceptable, and outright stolen crap. And did said submissions make it to the site? No, because we have quality control. And do you seriously expect us to know every waking detail of the games we've been approving the submissions for? The staff are not walking encyclopedias of video games, as much as we try we can't verify what's official and what's not sometimes. But we know for damn sure what's from the leaks -- we've already rejected dozens of "Gigaleak" submissions that people have been submitting to us. But yeah. Go ahead. Show us exactly what you mean by us having "AWFUL quality control". I'm waiting. |

@eve I find it neat that someone who doesn’t have a clue how the site staff work behind the scenes had the nerve to write such an asinine remark. We love having people be in this community, but we unfortunately can’t please everyone. Our standards are set because we deal with stolen sprites and models way too frequently, which is why you may view us as “uptight”. I’m sorry you felt it necessary to embarrass yourself and insult an entire community of sprite rippers with such an elitist remark. I can assure you we will have no trouble catching the leaked content, because it’s become pretty obvious what that content consists of. |

>please do not submit anything obtained from these files - it will be rejected on-sight. Bruh. This site has had AWFUL quality control for YEARS. Only the people who know nothing about pixelart (100% of people who use the word sprite/spriter instead pixelart/pixelartist) regularly use and trust this site as a "resource". The quality control here is so bad you let anyone upload their own poor-a$$ sprites and mix them with official ones. Not that any of you guys can even rip stuff properly to begin with, so I'd be surprised if you could even catch any of the leaked stuff being uploaded here. |

I have a bit to say on this. the pokemon gold/silver leaks were from the same source as the gigaleak, and even *those* included the *full names, phone numbers, and email adresses* of gamefreak employees. The only reason you are putting down the hammer now is because this one got media attention. |
