Isn't there also a green claw-looking thing loaded in with the trader in the Swamp of Vendoss?
I'm pretty sure the key w/ price tag sprite was meant for the silver key, as it's loaded alongside the Forest of Ogham's shopkeeper.
As for what it would've unlocked, my best guess is the Jade Ring chest in the Shrine itself.
