I didn't know Nintendo used to own Sonic, makes sense now why the Mario Olympic Games has SEGA characters too.
Basically, the creator was originally making this to be a Sonic fangame, but after Nintendo nuked his Mario fangame on the 2600, he rebranded it to protect himself.
Sonic, except he's a porcupine.
