@shadowman44: Nope. Pure sprites as I got them from the tile viewer. It ran on the same hardware as Final Lap R (it ran on the same engine as that game and a bit of a glorified hack with powerups) and were some of the last arcade hardware that was sprite focused before going to polygons. 1995 is pretty late for a 2D Namco game anyway.
Also it's silly that 4 of the cars including the Mach 5 were put together in one blob but Racer X and another car repeats its tiles 4 times.

Are you sure these aren't models?
Also, @shadowman44 the game clearly uses pre-rendered CG graphics. I haven't played it or seen it outside of here, but it pretty much checks all the boxes for a pre-rendered CG game in terms of looks.
