For some reason Ludwig's face uses color F, but since he is a mode 7 boss and his palette works completly diferently, the palette just kinda of loops and turns into color 7 instead, because of the size limitation of 8x8 it normally has, that's what the sprite in the corner is showing.
Thanks to whoever added his fireballs.
